Money Matters - Level 2 Offer
The South East region of the country is one of the trial areas for the government's new policy to help adults without a level 2 (less than 5 GCSE's Grade C) qualification to gain higher level skills.
The 'Offer' is made up of two parts:
- Free tuition for a full level 2 (less than 5 GCSE's Grade C) qualification
- Eligibility for the means tested Adult Learning Grant
Fees (or part of) will be paid for adults aged 19 or over studying for their first level 2 (less than 5 GCSE's Grade C) qualification or in some cases their first level 3 (i.e. 2 A levels) award.
The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) can provide up to £30 a week for any adult studying a level 2 (less than 5 GCSE's Grade C) course and for 19-30 year olds studying for a first level 3 (i.e. 2 A levels) qualification. Students must be resident in England and studying for 12 or more hours a week (a full-time course). The ALG is a means tested grant and applicants must not be receiving any other government support such as Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), New Deal, or income related benefits.
